Games were the case in this episode of the GameBytes Show podcast! It’s been something-like-a-week since we’ve done this, so it’s time to give you our impressions of some great video games! LeGrande talks about Steamworld Heist, doing water-powered robo-dudes in outer space. Dale gets into the weird and nonstandard first person brawler sequel Zeno Clash 2. Jeremy finally explores the dark world of Deltarune and lives to tell the under tale!

Dale and Jeremy are on the scene to rifle through the video game news of the week! We discuss the actual impending end of the PlayStation Vita, and have a few remembrances of the tiny powerhouse of a console. We are uniquely suited to discuss the Dune announcement from Funcom, so we do! Announcements of new games (free-to-play Dissidia, Pokemon) and milestones (Horizon Zero Dawn) as well as updates (Fortnite, FF14, RE2) and more! Plus new releases and freebies, and we discuss that knotty issue of “separating the art from the artist.”

Reggie Fils-Aime retires a hero, while other executives make the “most overpaid” list. The U.S. military gets into Microsoft HoloLens. A Taiwanese game is delisted from Steam for dissidence. Anthem’s roadmap is laid out, Darkest Dungeon is getting a sequel, and more! We cover the best new releases of the week, and we discuss the ethics and practicality of gaming-adjacent tech being put into service with the military.

Jeremy, Dale, and LeGrande are back for the mid-week discussion of games on our plates! We have one Very Good Game, and one Very Good But We Hope It’s Better Soon game. First, Dale returns to the perennial GBS game club with our unfinished playthrough of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. His lack of martial creativity is covered by the game’s sweet combo system. Next, and for the remainder of the episode, LeGrande and Jeremy go all good-cop-bad-cop on Anthem, identifying the things it does VERY VERY RIGHT but also VERY VERY NOT-SO-RIGHT.

Dale, LeGrande, and Jeremy got games. They got a couple of games anyway but they’re reeeeally good ones. This week we bring you a pretty thorough discussion of Respawn’s surprise drop of Apex Legends, the Titanfall-esque battle royale game that is shaking up the genre. We discuss its ins and outs and what it might mean for the gaming landscape. Jeremy describes his time with the Anno 1800 beta from Ubisoft, and how it harkens back to a genre of games he hasn’t played since Impressions Games… but that may have been with us all along.

Hail and well met, podcast listener. In this mid-week show we have quite a bounteous offering of yon video games with which to regale thee! LeGrande resists the urge to talk about Battlefield 5, and instead recounts his deeds of derring-do in zombie-wave-survival RTS They Are Billions. Dale finally dons his Tenno suit in Warframe on Nintendo Switch and thinks it suits him, and Jeremy cycles through action verbs in the long-awaited crowdfunded project Mage’s Initiation: Reign of the Elements!
