In our top-of-the-week episode we stick to the facts and spend a lot of time ruminating on the video game news that hit the wires in this week that was. A judge makes a ruling in the Epic vs Apple situation, the next-gen price structure becomes even a little more “structured”, Sony announces their PS5 pre-order mechanism, and a few things get announced that you might not have expected. We cover them all, along with the new releases and stuff!

It is time once again to share the video gaming that’s been happening when nobody was watching us slack off. This time we share a bit of the apocalyptic and supernatural. LeGrande rides through the desert on a horse with some name in Darksiders 3. Dale opens a portal to DOOM (2016), and Jeremy goes on a journey of discovery with the Marvel’s Avengers beta.

In this episode we get the big talk in gaming news going right out of the gate: how to troll your friends’ vacation photos. But AFTER that, we deal with the Epic Games v Apple fracas, in depth. Other news is happening so we talk about that too, including a longtime GTA voice leaving Rockstar, as well as some riveting new releases and a pretty strong outro, if we do say so ourselves.

This week the guys have been playing a little new, a little old, and a little ancient and modern. LeGrande talks about the emergent storytelling of Civilization 6 in his household and admits that he is raising terrorists. Dale is dealing with a couple of dictators himself as he slaves away in Animal Crossing New Horizon, but brings it back to family togetherness for the August fireworks events. Jeremy’s kids ignore him as he plays the month-long beta event for dieselpunk RTS Iron Harvest!

In this week’s news episode we cover Sony’s most recent State of Play event, along with some allegations of theft. Apple makes xCloud (and Stadia) a practical impossibility. Microsoft may have TWO next-gen consoles launching this year. Yoshinori Ono has plans outside of Capcom. One kid gets a hold of mom’s credit card on Twitch, and more! There are no new releases, but we talk about whether the east/west game release divide still exists!

This week’s episode features a gruesome twosome of Dale and Jeremy talking about GAMES. The games they played this week, in fact. Dale covers the board-game-to-PC-game adaptation of Space Hulk (pretty sure we either have or have not covered this one before) and has to set the licensing record as straight as he can. Jeremy played the technical test beta for Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout (not to be confused with the old Lee Majors TV show, Jeremy), and describes the defeat-focused gameplay that just keeps bringing him back.

This week’s news meanders a bit, but we make sure your core needs are being addressed: the need for gaming news. This episode covers Microsoft’s response to our questions about Xbox Game Pass. We discuss mod support in the Epic Games Store. Ubisoft SORT OF addresses public demand for their franchises, and Metal Gear Solid 5 players reach a peaceful conclusion, sort of. Plus, new releases and all of August’s freebies, and we discuss the most game-changing mods we’ve enjoyed in the past!

In this week’s episode we dig into a handful of very different (yet strangely contiguous) games to talk about! First, LeGrande gets into World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. It’s an MMO with a tinge of tentacle talk. Dale talks about his experience with The Lord of the Rings Online, continuing the swords-and-magic MMO theme and revisiting an oldie-but-maybe-goodie. Finally, Jeremy returns to tentacles with Carrion on Xbox Game Pass, and makes a sideways jaunt to other blobby appendages with the full release of Teenage Blob.
