It’s a Final Fantasy sandwich as we wind down from E3 week with some chill video games. LeGrande digs into the PS5 exclusive “Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade” Yuffie content. We also find out how to pronounce Yuffie, and maybe how to spell it. Dale digs back into some comfort food with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, and appreciates its consistency as a series. Jeremy tries out the E3-announced demo of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, and looks at how Team Ninja takes the first Final Fantasy game to the Dark Souls zone.

Game Bytes :: June 13, 2021 :: E3 2021 Weekend

It’s the most exciting week of video games for the year, or at least the first part of it! E3 2021 is here, and we’re celebrating by binge-watching all the presentations and trailers so you don’t have to! We go into the opening weekend of E3 with Ubisoft and Guerrilla Collective, a little of EA and a little Devolver, and of course the various satellite announcements cluttering up the nighttime sky of video games. Plus, a few big new releases to keep you satiated until next week!

Jerod joins Dale and Jeremy for this episode of the show to preview a bit of the upcoming E3 2021 schedule with leaks and rumors and presentations as we know them to be. We dig into a couple of legal maneuvers going on in games at the moment. A couple of games get their high school letterman jackets. Capcom is allegedly in trouble for copying someone’s work. And a stupid toy gets a stupid makeover. Plus, new releases and our ongoing freebies and sales watch. Jerod and Dale make some recommendations about Warhammer games to pick up in the current sale.

Fast food apps aside (eventually), the games we played this week are a bit of a throwback, each in their own way! LeGrande walks around in circles with the delightfully retro-inspired Loop Hero. Dale Elite-Dangerouses it up with Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Jeremy gets on that new-old Puzzle Quest jam with the new THIRD entry in the grand-old-gem-swapping series.

Game Bytes :: May 19, 2021 :: How Big is the Lady?

Although we played a variety of video games this week which included space travel, joyous platforming, a delightful vignette of the best parts of a storied video game franchise and more, we cast all of this aside and ask the important question: how big is the lady? The games we scramble over to answer this question include Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Resident Evil 8 Village, and Lair of the Clockwork God.

In this news-stuffed episode of the GameBytes Show podcast, we discuss exactly where all those former Blizzard people have been going with the formation of a new studio. Final Fantasy 14 Fanfest produces several announcements (and a bunch of job-class discussion), new DualSense controllers, Destiny 2’s premature crossplay, Game Center CX adds new “retro” platforms, Pokemon show up in another new music video, and more! New releases, and has Stadia ended IN SHAME yet? The doomsday clock is still ticking!

Tencent negotiates to keep its shares in US companies. Blizzard loses players, but makes money. Google Stadia hemorrhages more developers. World records are broken. Plus, the lawsuit that just keeps on giving. And we all talk about those times that we or others have lost consciousness abruptly.

In this week’s games we played, Jerod definitely DOES or definitely does NOT return to some weird Ultima Online legacy servers that might be different or not different from the previous ones. Dale commands the finest hotel chain in all of ancient and modern Hebrew Japan, and Jeremy revisits the “weird-heads-with-cloaks” parts of TRON and a little CRT swordplay in Narita Boy.

Game Bytes :: May 3, 2021 :: How Martial Are We Talking?

We held the video game news podcast back a day for the important event of new video game news. And we think you’ll agree it was worth it. This week we eavesdrop on the testimony of Tim Sweeney in the ongoing Epic Games vs Apple lawsuit, we chastise Sony for its crossplay demands, we then retract everything and bow down as Sony buys a minority stake in Discord (and therefore, in us?), we report on IO Interactive’s remored fantasy game, and more. Do you want the Queen’s golden Wii? You can have it! Plus, new releases and freebies galore!
