Lunch is on us this week, and we’re making a video game sandwich. Video games in the middle, and video games on either side. This week, Jerod is bringing Dawn of Man for some procedural, complicated caveman-city-building. Jeremy enchants us with Spellbreak, the alpha version of the newest battle royale game starring wizards and “infinitely variable” magic slotting, and then Jerod closes our open-face sandwich with a good bit of The Division 2, and all the improvements it makes over the original!

In the second of our two weekly podcasts, well… you know the drill. We don’t just TALK about games. We sometimes play them. And then talk about playing them. And sometimes you listen! And here you are! This week, LeGrande gets into Dragon Age Inquisition after a lengthy absence (it is very Dragon Agey). Jeremy tries out the free-to-play version of Dissidia NT Final Fantasy on PC (it’s a bit different from the PSP version)! Finally, Dale blesses the rains down in Resident Evil 5, and we talk about how the game has aged along with its single-player co-op mechanics (quite well)!

Every time we knock down the news, it gets back up again. It’s like we’re never gonna keep it down! Dale, LeGrande, and Jeremy are back with a rundown of arguably the most important news of… this particular episode! We cover Fortnite lawsuits, Google’s rumored controller and game streaming service, Valve layoffs (including Artifact), new developments in PS4 remote Play, the new Devil May Cry, Battlefield 5’s battle royale mode, and more! New releases and freebies get their moment in the sun, and we talk about Games As A Service. It’s a GAAS!

Games were the case in this episode of the GameBytes Show podcast! It’s been something-like-a-week since we’ve done this, so it’s time to give you our impressions of some great video games! LeGrande talks about Steamworld Heist, doing water-powered robo-dudes in outer space. Dale gets into the weird and nonstandard first person brawler sequel Zeno Clash 2. Jeremy finally explores the dark world of Deltarune and lives to tell the under tale!

Dale and Jeremy are on the scene to rifle through the video game news of the week! We discuss the actual impending end of the PlayStation Vita, and have a few remembrances of the tiny powerhouse of a console. We are uniquely suited to discuss the Dune announcement from Funcom, so we do! Announcements of new games (free-to-play Dissidia, Pokemon) and milestones (Horizon Zero Dawn) as well as updates (Fortnite, FF14, RE2) and more! Plus new releases and freebies, and we discuss that knotty issue of “separating the art from the artist.”

Dale and Jeremy drop behind enemy lines for some reconnaissance on the news of the week, and it’s a warzone out there. Reggie Fils-Aime retires a hero, while other executives make the “most overpaid” list. The U.S. military gets into Microsoft HoloLens. A Taiwanese game is delisted from Steam for dissidence. Anthem’s roadmap is laid out, Darkest Dungeon is getting a sequel, and more! We cover the best new releases of the week, and we discuss the ethics and practicality of gaming-adjacent tech being put into service with the military.

Jeremy, Dale, and LeGrande are back for the mid-week discussion of games on our plates! We have one Very Good Game, and one Very Good But We Hope It’s Better Soon game. First, Dale returns to the perennial GBS game club with our unfinished playthrough of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. His lack of martial creativity is covered by the game’s sweet combo system. Next, and for the remainder of the episode, LeGrande and Jeremy go all good-cop-bad-cop on Anthem, identifying the things it does VERY VERY RIGHT but also VERY VERY NOT-SO-RIGHT.

Jerod and Jeremy co-host this episode, to bring you the latest on Sony cross-platform woes, Anthem and Apex Legends woes, release announcements, legal stuff, and one weird game transaction. Plus, new releases, and we talk about our slightly-embarrassing video game-related arts & crafts projects that we have undertaken over the years!

Sit down, we have something to tell you. Something important. Something about video games. Yes, we’ve been playing them. We’re not sorry. And here’s why: THEY’RE AWESOME. Dale and Jeremy and LeGrande each have something great to share, and this week they’re talking about the Dota 2 Auto Chess mod, The Division 1 & 2 beta (same game?), and the brand-new Tetris 99 on Nintendo Switch.
