The new week opens with the news of the old week! And so the cycle continues. And presiding over this transition, as ever, are your humble GameBytes Show hosts. We open with some severe spoilers to Star Wars: The Last Jedi. After about 7 minutes of that, we continue to the news of the week! BAFTA noms, TRU closings, Twitch records broken, and Little Luigi. We cover the new releases, and we discuss games that we have not played (but want to) and have avoided spoilers thus far.

In this mid-week show, we finally stretch the limits of Jeremy’s feeble memory as he tries to remember the games he’s been playing! He finally lands on a “duo” of games with an unlikely connection! First, Starfox Zero on the Wii U spreads its wings and goes into all-range mode as we explore what makes the game similar to and different from its predecessors. Next, he talks about the prototype version of Pixeljunk Monsters Duo, not yet released on mobile devices but sharing a development parentage, and also sharing praise this week. Dale pipes in with the desert level of New Super Mario Bros 2, and finally repels the alien threat in XCOM: Enemy Unknown… but he then returns to dabble in dark genetic manipulation in XCOM: Enemy Within.

Matters must be attended: What does DICE stand for again? Just how sad can Phil Spencer make us? Who created Star Control after all? How cool would it be for Nathan Drake to hold a ship together with his webbing? Some of these questions may be answered in our video game news show this week! Also, new releases and updates, along with our freebies channel on Discord (link below). Finally, we discuss whether we’ve ever been embarrassed to play games in public, or how we deal with whipping out our gear for all to see. We institute the GameBytes Show Challenge!
